last week sometime - blogthing wasn't working
King St Newtown

Once I decided to erase all nostalgic memories of the Sydney I grew up in
and approach it as a completely new and unknown entity, the city became
exciting and alive again. Still can't get over all the trees in newtown
and erskinville, it's like a jungle compared to the bare gritty concrete -
no, but I'm not doing that anymore.

had a day of adventures in waterloo after lisa's car broke down on the way
to sidetrack to hear the voices from the vacant lot singing with geng gong,
an indonesian rock band. stranded in marrickville, waiting for the
towtruck for a few hours, we got to the landrover place in waterloo and
the security guard for the next door building came over and said he'd keep
an eye on the car for her. guarding all drugs that came out of that boat
off Lorne, at australian customs holding centre next door. then happened
upon a new art complex, dank street studios, in a huge old warehouse, all
minmal concrete with lots of serious art career galleries and a cafe that
had the best bread and butter pudding cakes I have ever tasted, rhubarb on
top and chocolate in the middle. yum.

saw morganics last night, excellent show by australian hip-hop and
breakbeater who does workshops in jails with violent offenders, in
rural communities and with kids at risk. totally inspiring work, taught us
to do boombox fx and breaking, and told amazing stories about the reality
of people's lives and choices in difficult situations.

reading spectrum today, inspired again by the article on that book what
are you going to do with your life. living with passion and curiosity,
following your own crazy dreams wherever they may lead and however little
you can explain to someone else exactly what it is that motivates you,
people in all kinds of occupations, demographics and locations grapple
with these same questions. it's good for my sanity to be reminded that I
am not alone in this bizarre quest. indeed, apparently there is some bloke
in glasgow also recording the sound of cable bridges - waiting to get
hooked up and hear what he's done.

decided to self-publish the cd's and maintain complete artistic and all
other control. not that I'm a control freak, but I can do it as well as
anyone! Going to see frumpus and toy death at the sandringham tonight -
have been out more in the last 5 days than 5 months in Melbourne.
