am fading fast. combination of jetlag - despite the $6,000 worth of airspace having an entire row of 4 seats all to myself for the whole journey, managed to sleep about 14 hours of the 24 - but still tired; and severe climatic shock. it's freezing yes and actually snowing. dreadful. don't know how people live here. all my romantic fantasies of northern european winters gone in about 10 minutes. although if i could work out how to turn the heater on it might be a little more bearable.
very weird and displaced. had fun in the supermarket though, wandered the marlyebone high street in a daze this morning. invited out to a goth cabaret tonight by mr m, but am feeling too phased to contemplate anything more than getting home and cooking risotto with the mushrooms and sweet potato i managed to hunt down.
had a lovely chat with very friendly, sweet (and cute) steward, who gave me cups of tea and orange juice during the night. called me smiley. he worked in a coal mine before qantas, and planning to be a fireman next. his wife wasn't thrilled about it, but seems to have come round now he'll be home more.
chatted about my bridge project, gave him a cd and he came back with not one but two bottles of french champagne. lovely. so even tho i didn't manage the upgrade - altho asked both at check-in and the gate, but as the plane was practically empty - by 200 seats - they really couldn't indulge me. next time - am on a mission for the life to which I would like to become accustomed.
speaking of which, still seeking a wealthy bridge enthusiast/arts patron. maybe I'll find one in london.
what else - the sydney launch on thursday was fabulous, thanks to everyone who came along, to alex and lanfranchis and jesse and virtual artists and joyce, john and brent for bringing your wonderful creative work to the evening. met my blogfan jane - hi! very cool to have worlds intersecting. and at the end of the night mum and dad still there (which was kind of bizarre as they hadn't seen each other since my uni graduation in about 1997) helped clean up and deliver me home with the mixing deck - thanks to simon for that. he was apparently quite impressed, industrial electronica he thought. indeed it is. dad commented on the juxtaposition of angelic tones and gritty industrial sounds. and i managed to stay relatively calm and relaxed and enjoy celebrating with friends and family, which is what it's all about. no point doing all this work and creating something crazy and amazing if you can't share it with people you love. realised most of whom had actually never heard any of my work - it's been an idea and a website for so long. not any more, this year is all about product. bring it on!
